Tanzania is a fantastic place for game viewing, from the incredible Great Migration in the Serengeti to the one-of-a-kind wildlife in the Ngorongoro Crater.

Take the road less traveled to spot chimpanzees in the Mahale Mountains, cruise along the river in the stunning Selous, or connect with the Maasai people in Northern Tanzania. Wrap up your adventure on the beautiful spice island of Zanzibar.

Serengeti National Park.

Serengeti National Park is globally renowned as the premier wildlife sanctuary, celebrated for its unparalleled natural beauty and significant scientific importance. It boasts the highest concentration of plains game in Africa. Established in 1952 in Tanzania, the park is home to the world’s most extraordinary wildlife event – the great migration of wildebeest and zebra. The resident populations of lions, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and diverse bird species are equally remarkable. Accommodation options range from luxury lodges to mobile camps, catering to various preferences. Spanning 5,700 square miles (14,763 square kilometers), the park is larger than the state of Connecticut, yet it supports only a few hundred vehicles within its vast expanse.

Ngorongoro Crater.

The crown jewel of Ngorongoro is a vast volcanic crater formed approximately 2.5 million years ago, recognized as the largest unflooded and intact caldera globally. Spanning about 20 kilometers in diameter, 600 meters in depth, and covering an area of 300 square kilometers, the Ngorongoro Crater stands as a remarkable natural marvel.

Renowned as one of Africa’s most iconic landmarks, the Ngorongoro Crater is reputed to host the highest concentration of wildlife on the continent. Often referred to as the ‘eighth wonder of the world,’ it has garnered international acclaim and attracts an ever-growing number of visitors annually. While encounters with other vehicles are common, exceptional wildlife viewing in an awe-inspiring setting is guaranteed. Ngorongoro offers a unique experience unlike any other location in Africa.

Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park, situated at the base of the Manyara Escarpment along the Rift Valley, features diverse ecosystems, exceptional birdlife, and stunning vistas.

The park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions, a primary attraction for visitors. Beyond the lions, it hosts the world's largest concentration of baboons, providing unique opportunities to observe extensive primate families. Additionally, the park is home to buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, olive baboon, blue monkey, klipspringer, elephants, and hippos.

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is one of the most distinguished parks within Tanzania's northern circuit. It is renowned for its extensive herds of majestic elephants and its ancient, towering baobab trees. Notably, Tarangire hosts some of the largest elephants globally.

Often visited alongside Serengeti or Ngorongoro, Tarangire stands out due to its proximity to Arusha and its unique status as the sole national park in the region offering sightings of a diverse range of wildlife, including numerous predators. This makes Tarangire an ideal destination for a day trip.

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park (ANAPA) is a remarkable sanctuary featuring diverse ecosystems and breathtaking vistas of Mt. Meru, the volcanic crater that lends its name to the region.

This park is a favored destination for day visitors departing from the town of Arusha en route to extended northern circuit safaris. The compact park encompasses the slopes, summit, and ash cone of Mt. Meru, the Momela Lakes, Ngurdoto Crater, and the verdant highland forests covering its lower elevations. Wildlife viewing around the Momela Lakes is conducted at a relaxed and tranquil pace, and many visitors pause within the forest to observe troops of rare colobus monkeys frolicking in the canopy.

Located just a short drive from Arusha and Moshi, Arusha National Park is among Tanzania’s most accessible parks, making it an excellent choice for a day excursion and an ideal start or conclusion to any Tanzanian itinerary.
